Harwell Campus in Oxfordshire has been the base for science and technology since the 1950’s. It was formerly an RAF aerodrome and has witnessed the early development of nuclear energy, medical research and more recently space related research.
More recently a joint venture has been set up which is now master planning the delivery of associated facilities in the commercial and space science fields together with some areas of complementary residential and support facilities. Infrastructure construction has commenced with outline planning application for areas of development within a wider master plan.
Baynham Meikle have been involved with Harwell for a number of years and are actively involved in all aspects of the master planning, infrastructure and the plot developments that are currently being delivered.
An Innovation Centre with a restaurant and gym are planned to commence in 2016 together with some technology facilities and further infrastructure.
In 2013/14 phases 1 and 2 of an R & D facility for E6 were designed and completed. Baynham Meikle have also been involved in the design and construction of a satellite antenna featuring a 7m diameter dish for the European Space Agency,which stands at the main entrance to the Harwell Campus.
